Regensight is the startup that invented theranostics for the incision-free surgical correction of visual disorders.
Theranostics is the proprietary technology embedded in the Regensight platform that enables surgeons to precisely treat visual impairment guided by bioimaging of the target eye tissue.
The Regensight platform consists of a combination of medical devices that control the delivery and photoactivation of a liquid formulation of riboflavin into the cornea of the eye.
The effect of the treatment is to induce a restructuring of the corneal tissue to physiologically improve focusing of the eye.
Regensight’s founders are brothers, an ophthalmologist and a biomedical engineer, with over ten years’ experience in developing medical technology and clinical trials of methods for the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Regensight is their second healthcare startup.

What is your main purpose and the idea behind it?
Regensight’s mission is to revolutionise surgical correction techniques for the most common visual impairments that affect half of the world’s population in order to improve their quality of life that afflict half the world’s population in order to improve their quality of life.
The revolutionary idea of theranostics for vision correction was born after years of studying, researching and caring for people with visual impairments and understanding the needs of surgeons to meet the
limitations of current surgical techniques.
Regensight’s short-term goal is the correction of keratoconus, the leading cause of corneal transplants in young people worldwide; medium-term goals are the correction of the most common vision defects in young people and adults globally, such as myopia and presbyopia.
How does the Startup Breeding experience help you in the growth and development of your business?
We live this experience both as a moment of confrontation with the mentors assigned to the startup and above all of cultural growth. Thanks to the webinars, we have had the opportunity to deepen some topics that will help us to refine the business strategy to achieve the objectives of the development plan.
